LLMs + Frameworks (ToolFormer, Langchain, & Lightning)

Details
Over the next few months we plan to do a series of events covering some of the latest announcements, models and research. We suggested that this month's in-person event would cover 'frameworks', and have enlarged the concept to include more than just software frameworks. We are revisiting Large Language Models from the perspective of building applications that use LLMs to do a variety of tasks. This includes fine-tuning the models, training them with unique datasets, as well as using software to add search and API look ups. We also have a talk on using the PyTorch Lightning framework to improve your training workflow.
Talks:
Langchain - Building apps with LLMs - Sam Witteveen
Actually building real world apps with Large Language models can be a challenge on many fronts. Recently the open source frameworks Langchain and GPT Index have come along to make this much easier and add a variety of tools as addons for LLM apps.
PyTorch Lightning - Vivek Kalyan
By imposing a little bit of structure, PyTorch Lightning can provide a solid foundation around the model-building process. Vivek will explain how this works in practice, and how it can simplify your workflow.
News You Can Use - Martin Andrews
So many papers, so little time! Martin will pick out a selection of interesting new directions being talked about - with an emphasis on those that can be most immediately useful (i.e. not just reserved for large teams at huge scale).
Talks will start at 7:00pm and end at around 8:30pm, at which point people normally come up to the front for a bit of a chat with each other, and the speakers.
***
As always, we're actively looking for more speakers - both '30 minutes long-form', and lightning talks. For the lightning talks, we welcome folks to come and talk about something cool they've done with TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX and/or Deep Learning for 5-10mins (so, if you have slides, then #max=10). We believe that the key ingredient for the success of a Lightning Talk is simply the cool/interesting factor. It doesn't matter whether you're an expert or and enthusiastic beginner: Given the responses we have had, we're sure there are lots of people who would be interested to hear what you've been playing with.
