Macon Outdoors

We plan to explore more of the wooded areas at Amerson River Park this coming Tuesday. We'll hike for about an hour and a half and then look for a place to eat for those that are hungry. Please bring the usual hydration, bug spray, hiking sticks if needed, etc.

Feel free to bring trash bags or buckets as we plan to pickup trash we find along our route.

Parking is by the playground in front of the bathrooms. If you follow the pin from this event on google maps it will take you right to the parking lot where we will be. See you Tuesday!

Dowdell Knob Rd, lot off of Highway 190. Hike ~4.5 miles on the Loop trail. Please be ready to roll at start time. parking $10

State parking pass needed.... the office is quite a few miles down the road if you need to get a year-round one.

Bring snacks, water, poles, (bug spray), sunscreen, hat, etc.

No restrooms at this trailhead.
Restrooms at the Park Office and that's quite a ways down the road. Leashed dogs okay.

If you've never been, after the hike go check out the office which is a Civilian Conservation Corps built. The office Stone Building, originally called the Roosevelt Inn, was built in the mid 1930. Inside, behind the checkout desk, is a picture on a wall of the inside of the building when it had a dining room on the main floor.

Meet at the WJSP-TV Tower Trailhead parking lot off of Highway Alt 27.(South of Warm Springs.) The map pin will take you to the correct location, so if you have never been please use it.

PLEASE plan extra time to pay for the parking if you don't have a state park pass. ($10 per car.)
Hike ~7 miles past creek, waterfall and look out.

No need to comment if you cannot make it - please just take off your RSVP. Be sure to have enough water, but the heavier your pack the harder the hike.

This is a beautiful 6 mile paddle on the Kinchafoonee ( a major tributary of the Flint River ). We will paddle to the Blue hole for a free country music concert , eat our lunch and return .
A shuttle fee is required for this event.
If you are using your own kayak the discounted shuttle fee is
$ 10. ( You will need to identify yourself as part of the Macon Outdoors group / with Ali).

If you are renting a kayak/ paddle/pfd -the cost is $32.50 + tax.
Your shuttle fee is included in the kayak equipment rental.

This is a big day on the Kinchafoonee , due to the free concert . Get your rental /or shuttle in asap ! 😉
Also , anyone participating in this event with Macon Outdoors must wear a life jacket .
Bring water, lunch , bug spray, sunscreen , dry bag , hat, water shoes , etc .
