Warning the first half of the hike is off the beaten path and the Levada also has a number of tunnels, including a 1k long tunnel.
There is no incline at all and the majority of the hike is easy when we reach the levada, once we descend (700m) it’s all flat, however, the trail is off the beaten path and there are risks, I’ve personally done it and it hasn’t been cleaned in a long time, please bring good shoes and we will do this part slowly and carefully.
The total hike is circa 19.5km, it took me 3hrs 30mins.
If you don’t wish to do the ‘risky part you can start at the end and do the easy Levada there and back, we will connect with you at the bottom around half way.
The levada is around 12km (6km until we connect with you and 6km back.
You must have a head torch!
If you wish to just do the levada (second half of the hike) the bus will take you there or you can drive, the driver does not pay and gets a contribution of 5 euros per person for each person they take.
