About us

Welcome to Madison Childfree by Choice!

This is a group for people in and around Madison, Wisconsin and Dane County who identify as childfree by choice. We are open to individuals and partnered people aged 18+ of all identities and backgrounds who choose not to have and do not want children. We are looking for courteous, respectful, dependable, active, and fun-loving childfree people to join!

Madison Childfree by Choice is intended for like-minded childfree by choice people to socialize, support each other in their decision to be childfree, and is focused on friendships, not dating. (Please do not DM other members without their consent.) We plan to hold different types of social events and hope each member will share their ideas, hobbies, interests, and embark on new adventures while leading events throughout the year. Suggesting an event or leading an event is a great way to make childfree friends with similar interests!

Please note that this is NOT a group for people who currently have or plan to have children, have a partner with children, or are empty nesters/have adult children. It is also not intended to support people who are childless due to indecision, infertility, medical issues, or other circumstances. If you previously viewed yourself as childless and now identify as childfree by choice, you are welcome.

If you want to join, we prefer that your profile uses your real first name (last name optional) and a current picture of yourself. That makes it easier to identify you at events. Please be courteous in keeping your RSVPs up to date. No-shows may result in being removed from the group.

If you arrive by 5:30, meet outside the front entrance of the Bolz Conservatory. Look for Lisa, who has glasses and short indigo hair. After 5:30, Lisa will post her location and phone number in discussion so you can text her.

Chairs are not provided—please bring your own lawn chair or blanket for seating.

I'll be working the UW Health HIV Care & Prevention Program's tent from 1-2:30pm, so plan to meet at their tent at 2:30-2:45pm. Then we can decide where to head after that! Check out the schedule (once it is released) to see what you might like to take in for food/bevvies, music, vendors, etc.
