About us
Join us for nude yoga! This class will be open to ALL who identify as gay men ages 18+, regardless of shape or size!
At this moment, I am gauging interest. If/Once there is enough interest, we will schedule an initial class. Class size may be restricted due to space considerations. A nominal fee may also be charged.
No one will be admitted to the group without answering the screening questions. Privacy is of the utmost concern, as is safety.
Why nude yoga? A few reasons:
- There is an intimacy and community created when we are together without the trappings and signifiers of clothing--many distinctions fade away. As gay men, we often think that our bodies are valued only for their sexual appeal, and by creating a non-sexual nude environment, we can help overcome some of that messaging.
- When we spend time naked, we appreciate our bodies more. We learn to be comfortable in our own skin, and we see that *everyone* has a different shape and size, and because nobody is "normal," everyone is! It's incredibly liberating!
- Practicing yoga naked is freeing--your body can move in ways that it cannot when you are wearing restrictive clothing.
- It just feels good!
FAQs:
-Can I come watch and not participate? No.
-Can I wear underwear? No. This is a nude class.
-I'm not gay, may I still join? At this time, this class is for those who identify as gay/queer men. If there is enough interest, it is possible that a mixed-gender class or a class open to all men may happen.
-I've never done yoga before--may I come? Yes! First timers are welcome and encouraged! Yoga is a wonderful practice because it's not competitive, and it's all about you doing what's best for YOUR body and spirit!
-Am I too _______ (fat/thin/old/inflexible/ugly/pretty) for this class? No!!!! We welcome ALL gay men ages 18+ to practice yoga. Hanging out with nudists is incredible because absolutely nobody cares what you look like. We've all got bodies, and they're all different, so bring yours!
-What happens if I get aroused? Arousal is certainly possible, especially if you're new to non-sexual nudity. Erections are completley natural and we should have no shame in them. As long as you're not playing with yourself, it's not a big deal. If you do feel self-conscious about it, feel free to drop into a child's pose until it passes.
-What will we do? We'll do yoga! Classes will be suitable for all levels of experience and will be designed in the vinyasa/flow style. Hopefully you'll get a bit of exercise and feel good about yourself when you're done.
-What do I need to bring? For hygiene reasons, you will need to bring your own yoga mat (you can find inexpensive mats virtually anywhere). Bring a bottle of water as well, and a towel. If you find blocks/straps/bolsters helpful to your yoga practice, please feel free to bring them as well, as they won't be provided--at least initially.
Bear in mind: there is absolutey NO TOUCHING of another person without EXPLICIT consent. Failure to abide by this will result in immediate expulsion from the class and from the group.
My hope is that people will build friendships here, so the plan is to add time before or after for socializing and getting to know each other.
