Craft Discussion
Details
Welcome to the inaugural Madison West Writers Group craft discussion!
Every meeting will have 3 submission slots where a writer can submit an item for discussion (more info on eligible items below) and we will end with a general discussion on the story outline of the week, presented by a member. For submission slots, you can present your question and context/content for 15 minutes; then we transition to discussion.
All members are expected to review and read submissions before session to make the most use of our time!
Rules for submissions on items:
- include your specific question for the group
- include your goals for the project: genre, audience, the feels/themes of your story
- your time is limited! Avoid having to cover your entire story outline in your session by focusing on a specific part of it.
- when you present an outline, condense it into bullet points! And then condense it again! We want plenty of time for discussion.
Potential items for discussion include:
- Specific story outline segment review
- Feedback on dialogue or action scenes (please keep word count to 1500 or lower)
- Feedback on the beginning or end of the story (limited word count OR bullet point outline)
- Worldbuilding questions
- (Focused) Character arc review
- Focused critique sessions on other craft elements.
- Other inquiries can be directed to Marly.
Please submit it as a Google doc in the comments. If you are new to MWWG, it is recommended to attend a session before you submit! All genres welcomed.
Thank you to all participants for making this discussion possible!
