OUR ROUNDTABLE TALK:
As healthy divorce professionals, we must bring a heightened sensitivity to families with special needs children to help them better adjust to the instability that divorce can bring.
Psychologist Dr. Paul Kesselman will facilitate an introductory talk to help us break down key aspects to consider in this regard.
Specifically, Paul will describe how to minimize and manage the effects of divorce on children who have:
- ADHD
- Severe anxiety and depression
- OCD
- On the autism spectrum
He'll also take us through a 'day in the life' of a special needs child going through a divorce so that we can absorb the nuance and detail of things like nutritional needs to extra social support. We'll also discuss the pandemic setbacks that have added a layer of complexity for everyone involved.
Our talk will inspire further collaborative discussion around the social, emotional, financial, and legal implications for healthier divorce outcomes for children, teens, and young adults with special needs.
