Let's kick off summer meeting new people the old fashioned way. By returning to those playground days of running the bases and pegging each other with a giant red rubber ball.
We're hosting an open-to-all community Field Day with a kickball tournament at Iris Fields. These diamonds are one of Boulder's most beloved landmarks, recently saved from development by an extraordinary grassroots coalition of neighbors, parents, and Little League families who chose kids over cash. These fields have hosted generations of Boulder athletes for over 60 years. Now it's our turn to run the bases.
So let's meet and gather as friends for:
Kickball Tournament — Register your team early or recruit one on the spot. We'll run a mini-bracket across the fields with teams of up to 10. Rally your crew like you're back on the sandlot and feel free to extend the invitation — the more you bring, the bigger the bracket.
Open Volleyball — The VBonfire Crux system, hosted by neighborhood legend James, maximizes inclusive play across all levels. Whether you're a setter or have never touched a net, you're in.
Music & Dancing — Local DJ Patrick Helfer keeps the vibes flowing as we groove and socialize until sunset.
Bring What You've Got — This is a community event, so contribute to the fun:
- Favorite yard game?...Bring it.
- Spikeball, cornhole, ladder golf?...Bring it.
- Coolers, snacks, and beverages?...Bring it.
- Mini speakers, glow sticks, hula hoops…Bring it.
- Friends just looking to have a good time on a Thursday?...Bring 'em.
