About us
MakeHaven is a gathering place and workshop for makers, creators, tinkerers and dreamers. The environment supports the development of and collaboration on a wide variety of projects, including: mechanics, electronics, crafts, digital art, biology and woodworking. Through cooperative projects led by MakeHaven members the project and program participants gain a greater understanding of how to create, repair and reuse items. In addition to project-oriented activities the general public will benefit from skill building workshops hosted in the space.

Stop the Bleed: Hands-on Training for Emergency Response
MakeHaven, 770 Chapel St, New Haven, CT, USIn this hands-on workshop, participants will learn and practice essential bleeding control techniques that can save a life in the critical moments before emergency responders arrive. Knowing how to stop severe bleeding is a vital skill for any emergency, and this training provides the practical experience needed to act with confidence.
What to Expect
Expect a focused training session led by a certified instructor. The class includes step-by-step demonstrations on recognizing life-threatening injuries and the proper application of direct pressure, wound packing, and tourniquets. Participants will spend the majority of the session in supervised hands-on practice using medical training equipment to ensure they can apply these techniques effectively.
Skills You’ll Acquire
• How to recognize and slow life-threatening bleeding
• Proper technique for applying a tourniquet
• Methods for wound packing and applying direct pressure
• Practical experience managing simulated severe injuries
