There’s Shakespeare on the beach, and now there is meditation too! Come out to Kits Beach and...

learn to meditate with an ex-monk... enjoy some homemade, good-for-you, good-for-the-planet food, and... socialize with super-duper new people! Meditation is like the new kale—it’s everywhere!

And for good reason.

In the same way kale is excellent for your body, meditation is magnificent for your mind!

Why meditate?

You need a clear head and calm senses to achieve your goals. Kale will get you part of the way, but meditation, if done properly, soothes and deepens.

Have too many thoughts? Don’t think you can meditate? That’s okay! Kale once tasted bitter too, so we’ll start from zero.

Newbies and veterans welcome!

Who is this?

Michael (http://www.stopthemindspam.com/) is your certified ex-monk and guide for the meditationy part. His passion is to make meditation practical and sustainable, eliminating the unnecessary foof.

Michael has co-hosted the “Meditation Play & Brunches (https://www.meetup.com/MeatlessMeetup/events/100763102/)” at Dharma Kitchen. This event is an evolution based upon your feedback.

What sort of meditation is this?

http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/d/4/c/8/event_244974472.jpegThis isn’t associated with any religion, philosophy, guru, or movement. Nor is there any chanting, visualizations, breath work, or postures. Instead, this will be concise, inclusive and definitely not weird.

The picnic menu (tentative):

(all vegan)

Crustless whole wheat delicate finger sandwiches (one of each):

Eggless egg salad Cucumber and vegan cream cheese with a bit of dill Veggie ham with mustard and romaine lettuce & Santa Cruz lemonade

Food will be brought by your foodsafe certified host in a cooler to the event, not purchased from the restaurant.

Note: For those with food sensitivities, the sandwiches contain soy and wheat. If you have a food sensitivity, send an email to Nancy and she'll let you know if it's possible to accommodate.

Where to find us:

We'll be sitting on the grass to the right of, not far from, The Boat House restaurant (see the map link above).

What to bring:

Bring a towel, blanket or yoga mat to sit on and maybe a hat in case we end up in the sun.

Final details:

The instruction and meditation part will take about an hour and fifteen minutes. It goes quickly!

We’ll start right away so that we can eat soon enough. Try to come early so you won’t miss the essential instructions!

Please note: In case of rain, event is canceled.
