Dear Biking Buds:
I have a problem: five free tickets to the Trestle Bike Park in Winter Park that will expire soon. With apologies for the short notice, please join me at the Trestle this Thursday, September 18th. All five of you get a free lift ticket, which I earned for volunteer work at the Resort. I cannot help you with bike or gear rentals. The rules for these tickets are that I can only give them away, no sell/trade/barter. All you can do is say thanks and perhaps give me a five star rating for this one 😉.
This ride is for intermediate and advanced riders. As Trestle riders go, I am at about the 20th percentile. I do greens, blues, and blue-blacks, but not blacks. I'm not fast and I don't jump anything. But I still have fun, riding Green World, Happy Camper, Free Speech, Space Force, and others. If this sounds good, please join me.
This is a Big Boyz bike park. You should wear a full-face helmet and some sort of elbow and knee pads. Protective gear rentals are available, $35 for a full-face helmet and $40 for a chest/elbow/knee pad set. Your trail bike will be just fine for the trails that I will be riding: women on 120mm light trail bikes have done just fine.
The gondola opens at 1000. Please meet me at 0930 at the outdoor seating between the Starbucks and the Trestle bike shop at the Winter Park base. All summer parking is free: I recommend the Garage in the Village. Please bring your own food and water. I like to have a lunch stop in Fantasy Meadow around noon, usually after my first two laps. On my last ride here, I did four laps, 19 miles, climbed 473 feet, with 2:07 time in motion, lift rides not included. I'll probably do about the same this time, although you are welcome to continue riding after I stop. The Park closes at 5 PM.
For the record, I am not a professional guide. By signing up and/or participating in this event you agree to the conditions outlined here:
