What we’re about
Pretty Deadly uses self defense to (re)discover the joy of movement and the power of our bodies. Based on natural movement and body dynamics, Pretty Deadly helps you find what's right for your body, and focus on body literacy over bodily harm.
Pretty Deadly is a practice developed on the group founder Susie Kahlich's experiences as a solo traveler, violent crime survivor, and 25+ years of martial arts training.
We welcome anyone who identifies as female to learn practical, reliable self defense in a non-combative, non-competitive environment.

See all- Purse Kung Fu - Free Workshop!Fireside Bar, San Francisco, CA
Did you know your bag or backpack is full of stuff that you can use to defend yourself? This workshop shows you how! In this two hour workshop, you’ll learn:
- How to actually use those keys you’re gripping on your walk home
- How to turn any of the random stuff in your bag into a self defense tool (yes, even tissues)
- How to swing your bag for full impact
- And then we’ll teach you how to do it yourself: how to assess any object for self defense use, even if you’ve never had any training.
Come join us and learn how all the pretty little treasures floating around your favorite bag can be deadly too.
Be sure to bring your favorite bag, as-is (don’t clean it out first!).
**Hang around after the workshop, order your favorite drink, and get to know workshop leader and founder of Pretty Deadly Self Defense Susie Kahlich and her experience teaching and training all over the world.
