GO: Relaxing Severn Valley Summer Camping

In contrast with some of our getaways further afield, this is a short journey affair (less than an hour by car for many of us, or potentially possible by train) that can easily be slotted in between a MON-FRI working week without taking annual leave. We will be nucleated around a secluded rural pub near Bridgnorth and the River Severn, where we can just chill out together, hopefully socializing in the sunshine. Nothing overtly strenuous.

There will be a main walk on the Saturday (and another shorter one on the Sunday if people want) and hopefully soaking up sun and socializing at other times. However there is the option to go kayaking on Sunday if anyone books it, or even cycling. or paddling in the river if you're lazy!

Location Details:
We're based around The Halfway House Inn in Eardington, which has a campsite behind, and a large field for overspill camping. It is just £10 per night for ordinary tents, more for electric hook ups or mobile homes. The pub does meals though advisable to pre-book. Small BBQs and outdoor games are possible too, if managed safely. They have a camping area at the back of the pub, which is sheltered and short grass, or a 'wild field' directly adjacent for more seclusion and views. We aren't sure in advance where our pitches will be allocated, but either is nice.

Address: Halfway House Inn, Cleobury Road, Eardington, WV16 5LS

Walking Options:
The Saturday walk will be around 8 to 8.5 miles, either from (or a very short drive from) the campsite, taking in the picturesque lowlands of central Shropshire. Please RSVP to this link to join this walk:-
Walk: Summertime Severn Valley, Sat, Jul 15, 2023, 10:15 AM | Meetup

Our Sunday walk or activity will be decided when there, and not advertized separately via the group website. The stopover format will offer relaxation before and in between. Some options include a walk around Chelmarsh Reservoir and Hampton Loade (7 miles), or a River Severn Walk between Arley and Highley (7 miles, self leadable), or a shorter version coming back by Severn Valley Railway. Canoeing or Kayaking is also possible if anyone wishes to sort out hiring or bringing equipment.

Evenings (Fri & Sat)
They'll hopefully reserve an indoor area for our group, for purposes of drinking and eating in the evenings. They'll need to know how many of us are dining there, so please RSVP to these two links if wanting to =>

Campsite Payments & Booking:
You will pay directly to the campsite owners and are encouraged to book a pitch immediately. They are aware that we're coming as an outdoor activities group, so please mention you're with GO:Heart Of England. In my experience, the best time to contact them tends to be 4pm to 7pm, as they have limited midweek opening, though there is also an email facility on their website.

For those without a tent, the Halfway House also has ensuite rooms on site if anyone is interested. Mobile home and caravan pitches can also be booked if required.
