What we’re about
Une description en français est fournie ci-dessous.
Welcome to Mindfulness Outdoors where we practice mindfulness in nature!
I am a licensed clinical psychologist, speaker, writer, and mindfulness guide. Since October 2021, I have been designing an outdoor wellness program based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindful Self-Compassion and other mindfulness-based and nature-based therapeutic techniques. I have a wide range of experience and training, including an honours degree in Biology and Biochemistry and a PhD in Clinical Psychology. I have been a nature-lover my entire life from hazy days playing in my family garden, to forest conservation as a teenager and now as an outdoor sports enthusiast. My approach involves helping individuals understand what truly matters to them and empowering them to live a more fulfilled and balanced life. To learn more about me, check out my website and LinkedIn.
At Mindfulness Outdoors there are 3 main types of events:
The Mindful Walking Series - Free
The mindful walking series is a 6 week series of events where we dive-in to various aspects of wellbeing during meditative or reflective walks on Mount Royal. I will share mindfulness and other therapeutic techniques for coping with difficult thoughts, understanding our values, accepting ourselves, and taking action towards what matters to us. We meet on Mount Royal (check the event page for the exact location). Each event begins with a short explanation of the theme for that day. We then take a short walk together where I highlight how to practice the therapeutic technique we just discussed. Then, you have time to practice the technique while walking on your own for a few minutes. At the end of the event, we come back together as a group and discuss (or not, it’s up to you) our experiences practicing the technique. I usually bring tea and treats for everyone to enjoy :) More information on the themes discussed can be found on my blog.
Special Events - Fees for the cost of equipment rentals
These are specific outdoor sports that we do mindfully. The idea is to focus on the moment rather than on performance. It is a great opportunity to try something new, or to do something you've done many times a different way. The only cost related to these events is equipment rentals (e.g., snowshoes, kayaks, SUPs etc.). Check out some of the past events to get an idea of what these activities are like.
Retreats - These are the only paid events.
I seek out special wonderlands for us to enjoy nature.
These retreats are focused on well-being, self-compassion and living a valued life.
Food and accommodations are included.
There are Mini-Retreats that consist of a daylong getaway at a nearby SEPAQ park and Seasonal Retreats that consist of a weekend away somewhere beautiful and peaceful. The retreats are posted on my website and on MeetUp.
Why are the retreats paid?
There are many costs related to running a retreat. Your payment pays for: the venue or park pass, the food, the time spent on logistics involved in organizing the retreat, and the preparation of the material and activities we do on the retreat. In addition, at the retreats, I provide small group and one-on-one guidance tailored to the participants. At the retreats, we really focus on what matters to you and the areas in your life you wish to change or reprioritize. Insurance receipts are available upon request. Paying by installments is available.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW
It is important to understand that you attend these events at your own risk.
Most of the activities are relatively low impact, but some are not. It is important to consider your physical condition before engaging in these activities. Have questions? Email me at info@moirestevenson.com
I look forward to meeting you at one of the events!
Mindfully Yours,

About the event:
How to Prioritize What Matters MostAs we go through our day-to-day lives, we often lose sight of what is important and focus our energies on things that do not truly matter to us. Throughout our discussion and walk, we will look at how you can better understand what is important to you and how knowing what matters can improve your well-being. I will then provide tips on prioritizing what is most important. As always, we will start with a discussion of the concept, then practice the techniques during our walk.
