Buddhist Meditation Retreat at Farmed Animal Sanctuary
Details
This full day meditation retreat will be an opportunity for experienced meditators to connect to nature, to our animal brethren, and to other Buddhist practitioners at the site of the Rivendell Farmed Animal Sanctuary.
We will be blending the schedule onsite, with the on-line retreat held monthly for the Dharma Voices for Animals participants. DVA is the only Buddhist animal advocacy organization, with chapters in Asia and the U.S. We will participate, as a group, with the online Dharma discussion, and participants can ask questions of the featured DVA speaker. In addition, Paul Erlandson, Founder of Rivendell Sanctuary, will offer a brief discussion period focused on the role of Animal Sanctuaries, for Buddhist animal-rights advocates.
There will also be seated, walking, and work meditation periods, as well as rest and reflection time. Participants will have opportunities to interact with the rescued farmed animals, as well as spend time on Rivendell's nature trails and year-round creek.
Rivendell is a 501c3 charity, the forever home to farmed animals in need. The event is being held at no charge, but donations to the sanctuary are very much appreciated. A vegan lunch is provided, as well as tea and treats for the discussion period. All food offered is entirely plant-based.
Please join us for a day of community, reflection, and compassion in action
