What we’re about
👋 HELLO AND WELCOME TO MOVIE ROADHOUSE LONDON!
London’s biggest film club — built by fans, for fans. We’re a buzzing community of movie lovers, indie filmmakers, comic geeks, and creators who live and breathe cinema. From cult classics to hidden gems, big-screen blockbusters to indie passion projects — we just love getting lost in movies.
We meet regularly for screenings, grab drinks after, and rave (or rant) together on our Letterboxd Page. You’ll often find us at our BFI Riverfront Socials — always a vibe. We stay on top of film news, and our members help vote on what we watch next via WhatsApp or Telegram (unlocked after your first meetup).
We also aim to make an effort to support independent cinema — from The Film Festival Guild to the Prince Charles Cinema, the BFI, Medicinema, and more. That means we sometimes get special perks, early screenings, and the chance to hit the road for exciting festivals. From film quizzes to chill pub nights, there’s always something going on.

The world outside may be frosty, but there’s a quiet sense of hope in the air. And honestly, the real strength and comfort come from having good friends around. May that soft glow bring you hope and guide your path.
👋 Happy Holidays, everyone! 🎁 Looks like that magical season is back — the one some of us absolutely adore, and the one some of us find a little bittersweet. But that’s exactly why we do this every year: to remind ourselves that community can bring some light, warmth, and laughter into the winter months. We’ve almost made it to the end of the year, and along the way we’ve shared films and experiences, made new friends, created great memories, and turned strangers into familiar faces. So let’s meet in the middle again and close out 2025 with a cosy hangout by the river.
🦌 This is our blended Christmas social with Movie Roadhouse, The Hideout, and the super-cool Ani-Mates London — and you’re all invited. Whether you’re a regular or it’s your first time, you’ll fit right in. We’re just a chilled crowd of movie fans, creators, filmmakers, animators, artists, and all-round film nerds who love hanging out and talking about the things that make life feel great.
We’ll be gathering from 4pm at the cosy BFI Bar & Kitchen (Lightbox entrance), on the ground floor of BFI Southbank. It’s one of our favourite spots — warm, inviting, and overlooking Waterloo Bridge and the River Thames. The bar has a great selection of food and drinks, and there’s plenty of space to wander, mingle, and catch up. The reservation is under Movie Roadhouse — just ask any BFI bar staff to point you in the right direction and they’ll guide you over.
Let’s celebrate the Christmas season together, make some new memories, and maybe even some new friends. Having something good in common is always a perfect place to start, and the best warmth is in the company we keep.

📽️🎬 THE INERTIA VARIATIONS - DOC W/ MATT JOHNSON Q&A!
BFI Southbank, BFI Southbank, Belvedere Road, London, SE1 8XT, GB📻 Matt Johnson of the band THE THE, known for his intensely personal and political songs, has remained silent for 15 years. Conflicted by creative inertia, he has observed from the sidelines as corporate state propaganda has swamped the cultural airwaves.
This 84-minute documentary, inspired by the poem of the same name by British-born, Los Angeles based poet John Tottenham, is centered around Johnson's 12 hour live Radio Cineola broadcast and within the film, through recitations of Tottenham’s poetry, Matt Johnson examines his troubled relationship with celebrity and the creative process and, through the tragic deaths of his mother and two of his brothers, how bereavement has informed his work and outlook.

Hello, everyone 👋 we are meeting up for James Camerons, long-awaited sequel. If you've been following the saga, you will know this is the third instalment of this groundbreaking series. This one I gather will take everything we’ve seen and heard so far, and turning up the intensity. Cameron has been pretty clear: this film isn’t just about delivering stunning visuals, though let’s be honest, we know those are coming too.
We’ll start our casual pre-social at the Victory House Wine Bar (next to the cinema) before proceeding to the grand film’s opening night at Cineworld IMAX Leicester Square. We’ve booked seats N35 and N36, but feel free to pick your own. Just a note: it’s probably best to book your tickets early as this is set to sell out quickly. We’ll be meeting afterwards for a brief Letterboxd review to share our thoughts.
Here’s 🥂 to a pre-Christmas 🎄, chilled Friday night at the movies — Na’vi vibes, good company, and plenty to talk about.
