🏨IT IS TIME TO BOOK YOUR ROOM
The overlook hotel is actually a real place. Believe it or not, even though it’s a major recurring antagonist in the Stephen King multiverse of books, films and miniseries. It is located in the Rocky Mountains and it has been the site of many unsavoury activities, yet the hotel remains a luxurious destination. Anyway, the impression of this movie in pop culture has been so influential that even those who haven’t seen it can recognise its iconography. It has visceral imagery, haunting score and hypnotic tracking shots and it’s ranked amongst the greatest horror films of all time and selected for preservation by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". That being said Stephen King criticized the film due to its deviations from the novel but has grown fond of it as time has gone by. Now many fans have just separated it as Kubrick’s version and King’s version as equally valid.

Kubrick re-cut the film for its European and although he never specified a preference some scholars and colleagues claim that this is his preferred version. In his own words, he states “A story of the supernatural cannot be taken apart and analysed too closely…If you submit it to a completely logical and detailed analysis it will eventually appear” and I couldn’t agree more. So join me for drinks and a pleasant stay in one of the scariest and most isolated places on earth.

  1. First: We will meet at the Clubhouse for a drink and a chat before I dip my hand in my lucky little bag of tricks for a Shining Prize. A table will be reserved under "The Hideout".
  2. Then: 🍿 We will go to The Prince Charles Cinema, grab another🍺drink and watch The Shining. 💺I will be located on row D14 however you can sit wherever you feel more comfortable.
