What’s up, everyone 👋 Hope you’re having a great day and hopefully looking forward to someone else getting smashed other than ourselves. This is Benjamin Safdie’s first solo project: a biographical drama about real-life MMA fighter Mark Kerr. It charts his rise in the early days of MMA/UFC and explores the toll, physical and personal of the sport, including his relationship with Dawn Staples. It also draws from the hit documentary The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Extreme Fighter Mark Kerr, which lends the story a strong factual backbone. This gives me vibes of love, intensity, and devotion, a reminder that every fighter’s life, like anyone’s, is never as simple as it appears from the outside.

As Ralph Waldo Emerson gently put it ‘Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood. And, to be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment. And on that note here is the schedule breakdown for today:

  1. 4:00 PM: We meet for drinks at Victory House French Bistrot & Wine Bar next to the Cinema. You will find me with a meetup sign.
  2. 5:10: We move towards Cineworld's Screen 6. I have chosen seat A6, but you can choose where you feel more comfortable.
  3. 7:33 PM: We reconvene again to Review & Score the Film and the results will be posted on Letterboxd.
