👋 HI everyone, we are getting together at the Picturehouse Central Cinema for the 4:00 pm showing of Marty Supreme. I haven’t watched this yet, so I’m getting together with a few friends of mine to watch it in glorious 70 mm Presentation format—because, honestly, it’s rare to find prints like this nowadays.

The movie, directed by Josh Safdie, is a fictionalized take on real-life player Marty Reisman as a table-tennis hustler in 1950s New York City. We follow Mauser’s rise from shoe store employee betting on games to a competitive champion in a high-energy, 'Scorsesean' feature. Now that it’s 🏆Oscar-nominated, it’ll be fascinating to see if it takes the prize!

The plan is to meet first at 3:30 pm at the Picturehouse café-bar downstairs, in the middle section with the big tables, before heading to screen one for the film. We’ve picked seats F25 to E27 if you’d like to sit near us. After the movie, we’ll head upstairs to the main bar for a Letterboxd review and some social time.
