👋 Hello everyone! join me for a captivating evening at BFI Southbank! We’ll dive into a gripping biographical drama by Mario Martone, with Valeria Golino portraying the trailblazing writer Goliarda Sapienza. The film delves into her transformative prison experience, inspiring new, unconventional bonds beyond societal norms.

Set in 1980s Rome, it follows Sapienza’s five-day incarceration for theft and her life-changing friendships with young inmates, especially Roberta (played by Matilda De Angelis). It’s a raw and powerful portrait of returning to freedom and forging authentic connections.

We’ll first gather at the BFI box office (Lightbox entrance), and then proceed to NFT Screen 1 for the screening, which will include an introduction and Q&A led by actress Valeria Golino. Honestly this is one of my favourite places for events, full of class, film culture, and a warm welcome. And, If you'd like, I’ll be seated in C4, just look out for me.

Afterward, we’ll gather at the BFI Cafe Bar for drinks and discussion, where we can share perspectives and, of course, post our final thoughts on Letterboxd.
