The July Classics! - Inherit the Wind (1960)

I picked this film because in addition to superb acting by Spencer Tracy, Frederic March, Claude Akins and even a rare dramatic performance by Gene Kelly, July is the 100th anniversary of the Scopes "Monkey" trial on which the story is based.
It is a dramatization and the character names are changed.
Clarence Darrow : Henry Drummond
Willian Jennings Bryan : Matthew Harrison Brady,
John Scopes : Bertram T. Cates,
etc.
But it captures the essence of the landmark event perfectly.
