IN PERSON - The Roses @ AMC East Hanover, Discussion at East Hanover Diner

The Roses, a dark comedy starring the always wonderful Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch, is a remake of the 1989 film War of the Roses. The plot involves a wealthy couple who just can’t get along. Allison Janney and Kate McKinnon also have roles in the film, so it really has the potential to be very funny. I’ve seen the trailer several times and it makes me laugh. :)

We will be seeing the 2:00 pm screening at AMC East Hanover, followed by discussion at East Hanover Diner. We will meet just outside the auditorium after the film and then head to the restaurant. I’ve made a 4:15 pm reservation for 15 people, so at the moment anyone who signs up past #15 will go to a waitlist, and I will adjust the reservation as necessary closer to the date of the event.

SYNOPSIS:
Life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Ivy (Olivia Colman) and Theo (Benedict Cumberbatch): successful careers, a loving marriage, great kids. But beneath the façade of their supposed ideal life, a storm is brewing -- as Theo's career nosedives while Ivy's own ambitions take off, a tinderbox of fierce competition and hidden resentment ignites. The Roses is a reimagining of the 1989 classic film The War of the Roses, based on the novel by Warren Adler.
