*** - Spike Lee and Denzel Washington in Highest 2 Lowest - NOT AN EVENT

Hello Movie Lovers and members of The Morristown Movie & Dining (and More) Meetup Group:

It's John one of your organizer friends checking in. Highest 2 Lowest is a movie I've had my eye on for a while now. It marks Spike Lee's big return to his true canvas/stage as an artist: the big screen. This group saw 2018's Black Klansman in theaters and Da 5 Bloods (I hosted) in 2020 on Netflix.

Spike Lee is a filmmaker I hold in high regard. I own signed copies of Do The Right Thing and Malcolm X. (whether it was him or an autopen machine i'll never know...)

However, there is a caveat. The movie is scheduled to be released either August 15th or 22nd and go to Apple TV Plus on September 5th.

1. This is not an event. This is more a "testing the waters poll" like a presidential campaign does to see how far would people be interested in traveling to see this. There are showtimes available at the Alamo Drafthouse theaters in the city.

2. AMC Morristown is not getting it. The person at AMC Rockaway said they probably aren't getting it. I also called Montclair Clairidge and asked if THEY or the German architecture styled theater in montclair that montclair film recently acquired are getting it? They said no.

3. Do people just want the convenience of Apple TV Plus? Is a watch party doable on that?

4. I also pitched to Susan Myers the idea of watching the film Spike Lee is reimagining with this: Kurosawa's High and Low for their next classic so we could compare/contrast the two movies. She was amenable i think...
