| David Michôd’s CHRISTY unfolds the story of Christy Martin (Sydney Sweeney) who never imagined life beyond her small-town roots in West Virginia—until she discovered a knack for punching people. Fueled by grit, raw determination, and an unshakable desire to win, she charges into the world of boxing under the guidance of her trainer and manager-turned-husband, Jim (Ben Foster). But while Christy flaunts a fiery persona in the ring, her toughest battles unfold outside it—confronting family, identity, and a relationship that just might become life-or-death. Based on remarkable true events, Christy Martin’s story is one of resilience, courage, and the fight to reclaim one’s life. |

9-7-25 UPDATE:
The 14th annual Montclair Film Festival will take place October 17-26, 2025. The full festival schedule will be announced in late September. Tickets go on sale to Members on September 29 and to the General Public on October 3.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just renewed my membership to Montclair Film in preparation for this year's event. The way this works is that when the schedule comes out, I review the films with a small committee of organizers and we poll the membership here with our picks. Based on your interest, those of us who are MFF members will order the tickets to the hottest events - usually the Festival Opening and Closing Events and sometimes others - when tickets go on sale to members, to ensure that we don't get sold out. We then distribute those tickets to those who RSVPd to the events.
As a remnder to Organizers, please avoid scheduling events during this time, until we know which dates our events will be on. Let's avoid creating conflicts if at all possible.
Thanks all!
