Online Movie Watch & Discuss: "Sneakers" in Rememberence of Robert Redford

Oh no, I just realized that due to another film event that I absolutely MUST attend - a screening, and discussion, of a recently released documentary on Leni Riefenstahl by the Summit Film Society in Madison - on this same date and time, I'll have to move the date of this RRR (Remembering Robert Redford) event to Friday, Oct. 3. So sorry, for the inconvenience and hope that everyone who has already RSVP'd will still be able to attend.

We recently lost a cinematic legend - Robert Redford. His film legacy is so long, with so many films, that there may be more than one event to remember him. Denis raised his hand with this one, choosing one of Redford's lesser known films for this watch party and discussion. He'll tell you more - watch this space!

From Denis:
In discussing the organizing of a proper memorial event for the recently-late great RR (Robert Redford), both Cindy and I realized that with so many works credited to him, both as actor and director, he deserves more than just one tribute from our group. So, here is the first: one of his lesser known – and acclaimed – films, but, nevertheless, one worthy of a re-watch… or first-watch for all of those who haven’t seen it yet – and should! Though not as prominent and well-known as the two box office blockbusters of “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and “The Sting,” “Sneakers” is still one heck of a nifty RR vehicle with a great supporting cast that includes the likes of Ben Kingsley and Dan Aykroyd.

A day before the commencement of this online event, Cindy will send out the link to all who have RSVP’d to meetup in Zoom. Then, we’ll all move over to another app – like “27twoseven” but not “27twoseven” – to watch the movie. At the conclusion, we’ll go back to Zoom for our discussion of it. Those who RSVP will receive further info and instructions on this shortly…

At least one other memorial tribute to RR from our group presented as a “Movie Classics” hosted by Susan will follow in a couple of weeks (titles being considered are “All the President’s Men, The Great Gatsby and The Candidate”). So, be on the look-out for that…
