Welcome to Napa Valley Hikers!
We host beginner and moderate level hikes once a month typically on Saturday mornings around Napa Valley.
A moderate level hike is generally two to four miles with moderate terrain and a cumulative elevation change of 250' to 500' per trail ratings.
Please Note:
🥾 Plan to arrive on time. We will wait 10 minutes and then set out on the hike.
🥾 If you are running late or can’t find Lisamarie, please leave a message on the event page. I monitor this page as the event begins.
🥾 This group is open to all ages and fitness levels, but you are responsible for determining if the hike is a fit for you.
🥾 Hosting Meetup groups costs $360/year. If you feel led to contribute to the cost of the group, I am on Venmo and Zelle at lisamarie@paperandglam.com.

Armstrong Woods & Austin Creek Loop (Strenuous, 8-9 miles)

Join us for a loop through Armstrong Redwoods and a visit to Austin Creek State Recreation Area!
Starting from the Armstrong parking lot we take the East Ridge trail up the hill to the ridge overlooking the beautiful Austin Creek watershed. We’ll explore some of the side trails in this area, such as the East Ridge trail, with great views in all directions. And from there we head down the Pool Ridge trail into the heart of Armstrong Redwoods, past the Armstrong Tree (oldest tree in the park) and Parson Jones tree (the tallest).

- MEETING TIME: 8:00 AM, since parking is limited and this small lot fills up fast on weekends. We will depart at 8:10. Parking in the lot is $10 unless you have state park pass. You can also park along the side of the road outside the gate for free.
- MEETING SPOT: We will meet in front of the Armstrong Woods visitor center.
- RESTROOMS: At the start and finish of the route, and at the foot of the Pool Ridge trail. Last time I was at Bullfrog the restrooms there were closed.
- GEAR: Bring plenty of water and snacks. Dress in layers - we'll probably have AM fog and lots of shade but portions of this route are exposed to the sun. Poles will be useful.

Jenner Headlands 11m/2200 ft Loop
Jenner Boat ramp & Visitors Ctr, 10400 Hwy one, Jenner, CA, USJoin us for a dog-friendly 11 mile hike in Jenner Headlands. featuring redwood forests and spectacular ocean views!
We begin in Jenner, at the Visitor Center, then climb up past the Barn into the Redwods to visit the famous Cathedral Tree. From there we return back to our starting point via Russian Gulch.
DIFFICULTY: Moderate
DISTANCE: 11 Miles
ELEVATION GAIN: 2200 feet
PACE: Probably around 20 to 30 minute miles depending on conditions

- MEETING TIME: 8:30 AM. We will depart promptly at 8:40am.
- MEETING SPOT: At the Jenner Visitor Center: 10451 CA-1, Jenner, CA 95450
- PARKING: Plenty of parking in the Visitor Center lot.
- RESTROOMS: At the start of the hike, also a porta-potty at the Barn, which we will pass twice.
- DOG FRIENDLY: Yes, on leash
- GEAR: Bring plenty of water and snacks. Dress in layers - we may have AM fog but it will warm up later, and most of this route is exposed to the sun. Poles will be very useful, there are some steep climbs and descents.

From the Redwoods to the Sea!
Sonoma Coast State Park (Shell Beach), Highway 1 and Shell Beach Rd, Jenner, CA, USDIFFICULTY: Very Strenuous.
DISTANCE: 12 miles
ELEVATION GAIN: 2200 feet
PACE: Since the uphill portion will be a bit slower, we'll start at a more relaxed 30 min/mi pace and only go faster if everyone is comfortable with more speed.
WEATHER: Monte Rio, CA 10-Day Weather Forecast | Weather Underground -With the opening of Monte Rio Redwoods expansion last year, the longtime dream of being able to hike from Monte Rio all the way to the ocean was finally realized. We did this one-way car-shuttle hike in February and by popular demand we are doing it one more time this year.
We will meet at Shell Beach, leave half the cars there, then carpool back to the Monte Rio Redwoods trailhead (the small parking lot with the porta potty, just south of Lightwave Restaurant on the right). This lot has an $8 fee but there are also plenty of pullouts along the road for additional and free parking.
This route starts with a tough climb (about 1500 feet straight uphill) through the redwoods, then navigating through the beautiful Islands in the Sky region down into Willow Creek Valley. We'll then head up the Pomo Canyon Trail to the coast.
This will be a joint event with the Sea and Mountain hiking group so we're limiting it to ten attendees this time around.

- MEETING TIME: 8:30 AM. We will depart at 8:40.
- MEETING SPOT: Shell Beach parking lot, Sonoma Coast State Park. There is no fee for parking.
- RESTROOMS: There are restrooms at the Monte Rio trailhead, porta potties at Pomo Canyon, and then nothing until the porta potties at the end of the hike at Shell Beach, please plan accordingly.
- GEAR: Bring water and snacks. Dress in layers - we'll probably have AM fog and most the first part of this route is in the shade, but be prepared for changing conditions and more sun later in the day. Poles will be very useful.
