VISIT TO THE KITCHEN GARDEN

Details

VISIT TO THE KITCHEN GARDEN is the July's edition of Nature Walks for Mindful Parents in Chiswick House and Gardens park, London (W4 2RP).

Come to discover the unique Kitchen Garden in Chiswick House & Gardens !

The Kitchen Garden at Chiswick House and Gardens has existed on this site since 1682. It has changed ownership and been through various states of neglect and disrepair over the last 350 years.

However, it wasn’t until 2005 when it was restored and replanted by an enthusiastic group of local residents, determined to use this historic place as a community resource. This voluntary team of community gardeners launched the Chiswick House Kitchen Garden Community project. Their hard work and tenacity turned it into a community kitchen garden for teaching local residents, schools and community groups about horticulture and growing food.

We will start by gathering in front of Chiswick House Cafe. We will spend some time introducing each other and will start our tour of the Kitchen Garden.

We will start 10.30 am promptly from the Cafe and will reach straight for the Kitchen Garden. So, if late, find us there ;-)

We will spend time looking at the Kitchen Garden in details - finding all about the Journey of the Food from Seed to Spoon, how to grow own fruits and vegetables, discovering which herbs are most suitable and easy to grow, and how to turn our edible garden into a pollinators' paradise.

We would like to thank to Chiswick House and Gardens for the chance to visit the Kitchen Garden !
