Announcing a new Meetup for nature lovers' meetup!

What: US Botanic Garden - "Our Planet - Ours!: Sustainability for the 22nd Century"

When: September 14,[masked]:00 PM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

Meetup Description: This will be the Nature Lovers' first visit to the U.S. Botanic Garden. I heard about "Our Planet - Ours!" on the news recently and it sounds great. The U.S. Botanic Garden is located near the Capitol. It is a fun place to explore, both indoors and out, so we can check out other areas if time permits. Afterwards, we'll further enjoy each other's company at a local restaurant.

There is no charge for admission to all public areas of the US Botanic Garden.

Edited from the website:

This exhibition focuses on sustainability - how it applies to gardens and the landscape as well as to each of us and our communities. 'One Planet - Ours! Sustainability for the 22nd Century' will showcase garden displays on the Conservatory Terrace and interpretive and sculptural displays in the National Garden and Bartholdi Park. The U.S. Botanic Garden has invited other organizations from around the country to participate in the exhibition: 'One Planet - Ours!' will feature government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and individuals who are leading efforts toward sustainable lifestyles. Tying it all together will be "Cool Globes," an exhibit of more than 40 sculptures of "whole-earth" solutions to the problems of living unsustainably.

Address and directions: The Conservatory's main entrance is located at 100 Maryland Avenue, SW, Washington, DC 20001 (use this address for internet mapping searches). The National Garden is adjacent to the Conservatory, with entrances from Independence Avenue, from Maryland Avenue (at 3rd Street), and from the Conservatory Terrace. Bartholdi Park is located across Independence Avenue from the Conservatory, with access from any of the three bordering streets - Independence Avenue, Washington Avenue, or First Street.

The US Botanic Garden is Metro accessible. The closest Metrorail stops are Federal Center SW and Capitol South along the Blue and Orange lines.

We'll meet at the main entrance at 2pm.
