About us
The NPS is a registered charity welcoming everyone with an interest in philosophy, especially novices. It aims to promote philosophy education to the local public with meetings in pubs, cafes, and community centres.
There are various group leaders spanning very different approaches but all aim for interaction, sharing, and dialogue in a spirit of mature enquiry. For one thing that philosophy tells us is that right answers are hard to find.

Wednesday group
The Bake One, 215-217 High Street, Gosforth, NE31HQ, Newcastle Upon Tyne, GBWe are a group of people who meet every day of the week for discussions on issues pertaining to life, human experience, self–other relationships and sociopolitical discourse.
Beyond an unusually broad scope of subjects, we pay particular attention to the way we approach a topic and to the process through which ideas unfold.
We are inspired by philosophical practices centred around the idea of ‘method over doctrine’ — conversation pursued for its own sake, as a surer signpost towards truth.
Anyone who feels dulled by a proliferation of themes at the expense of ideas is invited to take part in a grand adventure of the mind: a journey from contingent and expedient social constructs towards more pluralistic, overarching concepts.
