Come help us finish out an ongoing project, and try your hand at appliqué, hand quilting, and embroidery techniques!

A small group of us at Noisebridge have been working on projects that combine AI, electronics, woodwork, and traditional textile practices like quilting, embroidery, and machine knitting. We're nearing the end of one of our quilts, and thought it would be fun to throw a quilting bee to finish it out!

Schedule
This will be a traveling quilting bee!

  • 11am - 2pm at the Medicine for Nightmares Bookstore's Semilla Fest (3036 24th St)
  • 2 - 2:30pm quilt walk up Mission street (between 24th and 16th)
  • 2:30 - 6pm at Noisebridge (272 Capp St)

Come at any point!

What to expect
We started working on this quilt earlier in the year, and used Stable Diffusion to come up with the original design. From there we printed fabric, embroidered borders, and pieced the top together. We have it sandwiched and ready for quilting - that's where you come in!

At the quilting bee, we'll be learning about appliqué, hand quilting, and embroidery techniques, and will provide all the materials you need. You'll have a chance to get creative if you want to, or we can provide more guidance if needed. If you're new to Noisebridge this would be a good opportunity to check out the space and the sewing community here. Come at any point and meet other people excited about learning sewing techniques and fiber arts!

Beginner to advanced sewists welcome.

Please donate to help us run the space if you can, but no one is turned away from lack of funds. We suggest a sliding scale donation of $10-30 going towards the maintenance of, and new equipment for, the space. Payable to our cash box, or by Venmo, Paypal, or Credit Card. See Donate to Noisebridge for more information.

Sewing nights happen every Monday, and include Sewing 101 and special project nights. Feel free to request a topic or project.
