Spacebridge: Let's send something to (near) space!

Space is awesome but why should NASA Ames get all the fun? San Francisco deserves another space program. To this end Noisebridge is stepping up to challenge and reviving the Spacebridge program!!

As a starter project we're planning on sending up a high altitude balloon with some avionics, a camera, and possibly something that let's us claim a "first X in the stratosphere" record.

This will be a cross-disciplinary project-based learning experience involving: electronics, software, radio operation, fabrics, treasure hunting (downed weather balloons are considered salvage), and more!

All are welcome - from fledgling space enthusiasts to seasoned astronauts!

For our first meetup we'll aim to:

• discuss potential projects scope
• go over the steps needed to send something up to (near) space
• set up a ground station to track and read telemetry off weather balloons (which are sent up twice a day from Oakland airport).
