New Meetup: X-Mas Day Hike on Cougar Mtn

Announcing a new Meetup for Eastside Hikers Meetup Group!

What: X-Mas Day Hike on Cougar Mtn

When: December 25,[masked]:00 PM

Where:
Wilderness Creek TH
Renton Issaquah Rd SE/WA-900
Issaquah, WA 98027

Beautiful moss covered boulders, several bridges spanning a splashing creek, great viewpoints and the true summit of Cougar Mountain - I love this hidden little hike. It's the perfect thing if you want to get your blood flowing Christmas Day after the presents are opened.

The Wilderness Creek and Wilderness Peak Loop Trail is 3.5 miles long with an elevation gain of 1,100 feet and a difficulty level of "Moderate". Since it is short, we will travel at a brisk but casual pace (I am more interested in the company than the completion time).

We will begin hiking at 1:09PM sharp (unless I get a call from a lost driver).
We will be back at the lot no later than 3:30.

Cool dogs are welcome.

Directions:
The trail head is near Issaquah on the east side of Cougar Mountain off of SR 900

- TAKE I-90 east towards Issaquah
- GET OFF at EXIT 15 (it will say SR 900)
- At the end of the off ramp TURN RIGHT (south) on SR900 (also called Renton Rd.)
- LOOK at you odometer
- TRAVEL for 3 miles, then start looking to your right for a blue park sign reading "Wilderness Creek" and a ramp-like entrance
- TURN RIGHT into the entrance and park in the small parking lot.

> There is a smaller trail head off of SR900 with an undeveloped parking area before the our trail head. Ours has a portapotty.<
> If you pass 185th Ave SE you have gone about a half mile too far<

(I haven't been able to find an address for the trail head but Google Earth gives these coordinates, Latitude: 47?30'36.39"N - Longitude:122? 5'13.67"W.)

I will be standing next to my black Jeep Wrangler. I am 6'4" and will be wearing a greenish gray baseball cap.

Call me if you will be late or are having trouble finding the place: [masked].

Come and enjoy the afternoon on the mountain with us.
