It's on! A relaxing camping weekend in Lake George.
This camping trip coincides with the Lake George Open Water Swim, which takes place at Hague Beach, just down the road from Rogers Rock campground.
The Lake George Open Water Swim is a race/event - here are 3 distances for the races- 2.5k, 5k, and 10k (its 1 loop, 2 loops, or 4 loops of the course). The 2.5k and 10k events start early; the 5k starts later. I am NOT the organizer of the swim events but I intend to swim at the event.
Come camp, swim, or just hang out. The campground has its own beach, and the nearby Hague public beach (where the swim is held) has a beach, big lawn, and playground. Even if you're not a swimmer, you can bike/hike/kayak in the area or just chill on a beach.

The start of the swim is just a 5 minute drive from Rogers Rock Campground, so swimmers can get to the race start easily.
For non-swimmers, the area is great for biking (I'm told by the cyclists), hiking (not as hard core as the high peaks), and there are places nearby to rent kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards to play on the lake (the campground has its own beach area). You can also rent pontoon boats by the day (looked like a lot of fun a few years ago...)
It is a NY State campsite so you can only reserve 1 site per email through ReserveAmerica.
I've reserved 2 sites to get started - 2 of them are on the spreadsheet for sharing (239, 241, and friends have 233 ). I picked them mostly because there was a cluster of unbooked sites. You can email me about sharing or book another site nearby (there are more still available in that loop)

I've started a sheet for campsites just to track who is at which site and to facilitate sharing. PLEASE don't add your name to someone else's site without confirming with the person first or else you may be removed from the site.
** I will be bringing my 3 year old, so this really is a kid friendly/centric weekend, if that's not your thing, then this isn't the right trip :) **
