Labor Day Weekend on Copake Lake, NY 🏊🏻‍♀️🛶🥾🚴‍♀️

We usually go far for Labor Day Weekend. I want to have a much shorter trip this Labor Day weekend so I decide to go to Copake Lake which is a quick 2 hour drive from the city but it is also relatively easy to access via mass transit.

What's the plan?

I plan on booking an AirBnB on Copake Lake for the length of Labor Day weekend. If people want to go up Thursday let me know. I could make this a 4 day rental. For the 3 day rental I am estimating around $250 per person for a spot. I can't guarantee your own bed as some set ups have only queens. some have singles, some have bunks, some have sofa beds. Whomever pays me first gets first choice of bed and so forth.

I am posting this to gauge interest and if there are enough people I will book the AirBnb and ask for money ASAP via PayPal, Venmo or Zelle. I will post all the details once I get the house.

What are we doing there?

There is swimming of course! But also you can rent canoes, kayaks and SUPS on the lake. There is some amazing hiking in the Berkshires nearby.

There is also great road and trail cycling. But also there are some fun gravel paths if you have a gravel bike. I am going bring my gravel bike but will stick to mostly road or rail trail if I am the only one with a gravel bike.

How are we getting there?

We will carpool to get to the house. I will set up a chat a few days before the trip so people can figure out rides. But Copake Lake is near the Hudson train station on Amtrak and Wassaic on Metro North. So worst case scenario you can take either Amtrak to Hudson or Metro North to Wassaic. After that I or anyone else can pick up those who can't make the carpool rides from either Hudson or Wassaic.

What are we doing about food?

We can cook meals some nights but we can also go out into town. There are many cutes town within 20 minutes of Copake Lake with really good restaurants. Plus there is an amazing bar/concert venue in South Egremont where you can eat, listen to music and dance. So plenty of options for food each night.
