Let's join our friends at the Humanist Association of Orange County as they introduce Braver Angels.

    Zoom Reg HERE

Have you ever avoided talking about politics with friends or family because it just wasn't worth the argument? Do you wish people could disagree without assuming the worst about each other?

You're not alone—and there is a growing movement working to change that.

Join us for an inspiring introduction to Braver Angels, a national, volunteer-led organization dedicated to reducing political polarization by bringing Americans together across ideological differences. Through respectful dialogue, debates, workshops, and community events, Braver Angels helps people discover that disagreement doesn't have to mean division.

At this event, we'll watch a compelling video about the history and mission of Braver Angels, learn how this unique movement began, and discuss why its work is more important than ever. Whether you're politically left, right, independent, or simply tired of the hostility that seems to dominate our public conversations, you'll be welcome.

After the video, we'll have an open, respectful discussion about what resonated with you, answer questions about Braver Angels, and share opportunities to get involved with the growing local Orange County alliance.

If you're looking for hope, practical ways to improve political conversations, or simply want to meet people who value respectful dialogue, we'd love to have you join us.

Everyone is welcome. Curiosity is encouraged. Respect is expected.

Eddie Tabash is in his 29th year as a member of the Board of Trustees of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. He also chairs the Board of Directors of the Center for Inquiry. He has filed amicus briefs with the United States Supreme Court, the California Supreme Court, and the California Court of Appeal, in cases dealing with church state separation.
He is known for his expertise in demonstrating that the Framers of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights intended for non believers to be legally equal with believers. The Founders designed our Constitutional system to require government to maintain benevolent neutrality between religion and non belief.

By the end of 2020, Trump managed to secure not only the first religious right wing majority on the Supreme Court, but also the first six to three supermajority. This current supermajority has spent the past almost six years dismantling many pillars of church/state separation
This supermajority is enabling the increased imposition of religious authoritarianism. States are now requiring formal Bible study in the schools and the posting of the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms. In 2022, the religious right achieved its most important objective, when, after almost 50 years, they finally managed to destroy nationwide constitutional protection for abortion rights.

Eddie Tabash will explain these cases and offer some possible actions that we still might take in our attempt to stop the current hemorrhaging of our freedoms and in a multi generational struggle to fully establish once again an officially secular government.
