Are you goth, punk, alternative, eccentric, occult-curious, a horror fan, witchy, or just someone who feels a little out of place in the mainstream?
Come join us for the first ALT OGDEN Pre-Sunset Social — a casual evening for interesting people to meet other interesting people.
We'll gather at Dumke Arts Plaza for an evening of strange stories, tarot, and conversation.
### 🔮 What we'll be doing
🕯️ Ghost Stories & Strange Encounters
Bring a creepy story, unexplained experience, local legend, weird coincidence, or just a story that's too strange not to tell. You don't have to believe in ghosts, skepticism is welcome too.
🔮 Casual Tarot Readings
Bring a tarot or oracle deck if you have one. We'll pair up and give each other casual readings. Never used tarot before? No problem. There will be people around who can help you get started.
🔮 Unique Questions
We'll have a collection of unusual conversation prompts to get people talking beyond the generic "So, what do you do?" questions.
Expect questions about the paranormal, subcultures, bizarre experiences, strange hobbies, unpopular opinions, and other things you probably wouldn't bring up at a 'normal' social event.

- 6:15–7:00 — Ghost Stories & Strange Encounters 🕯️
- 7:00–7:30 — Tarot Readings 🔮
- 7:30–8:00 — Conversation Prompts, Mingling, & Wrap up
- 8:00 — Official end, with people welcome to continue chatting if they want
### 👻 Come as you are
You don't need to dress goth or punk to attend. Whether you're a lifelong member or newcomer of an alternative subculture or simply consider yourself a little weird, you're welcome.
You also don't need to be outgoing. Come with a friend, come alone, participate in the activities, or just hang out and listen.
This is a social event, not a dating event, although you're obviously free to talk with someone you hit it off with.
Don't be THAT kind of creep. Harassment, unwanted advances, unwelcome flirting, sexual comments, or generally making someone uncomfortable will not be tolerated. Respect people's boundaries and take "no" for an answer. Otherwise, you will be cast into the void.
No alcohol is necessary or expected. Feel free to bring a non-alcoholic drink or snack.
### A note on the group
ALT OGDEN is about bringing together people who don't necessarily fit the mainstream — goths, punks, metalheads, artists, witches, horror fans, weirdos, alternative folks, and anyone else looking for interesting people to hang out with.
This isn't a political or ideological group. Different viewpoints are welcome. We're here to socialize, explore alternative culture, have interesting conversations, and give people a place to be themselves without judgement, ideological gatekeeping, or culture-war arguments.
The only real rule is simple: be cool to other people.
Come tell a ghost story. Read some tarot. Meet some interesting people.
You might just find your tribe.

This is an adults-only event, as there will be swearing and most likely an ungodly amount of piercings.

🕯️ What to bring: Yourself, a chair/blanket if you want one, and optionally a tarot deck, creepy story, or snack.
