## Embabel, an Agentic AI Framework

  • Embabel (Em-BAY-bel) is an Agentic AI framework for the JVM. Python has long been the go-to for machine learning experiments, thanks to its ease, ecosystem richness, and data scientist-friendly tools. However, it often struggles when you try to move from experiment to real-world, production-scale AI.
  • As AI adoption becomes more mission critical, what matters is not just model training or computation. It is context, reliability, type safety, performance, observability, and integration with existing enterprise systems. Java and Kotlin offer these strengths. Strong typing, mature tooling, and proven track records in resilient, scalable systems make them a compelling choice for serious AI. It is time to move beyond proofs of concept.
  • The Team Behind Embabel
Alongside Spring Framework founder Rod Johnson and other alumni, Embabel is built by a team of high-achieving engineers with a proven record not only in applied AI, but also in designing, scaling, and delivering large, complex systems.

## Format

  • 6:30pm — Welcome & Networking: Pizza, drinks and name tags will be provided—come hungry and ready to connect!
  • 7:00pm — Get people into the auditorium.
  • 7:05pm — Orlando JUG and ODevs opening remarks.
  • 7:10pm — Featured presentation by guest speaker.
  • 8:20pm — Q&A + Social Time. Two attendees will each win a JetBrains license (e.g. IntelliJ IDEA, CLion, PyCharm Pro, ReSharper, etc.) and 3 attendees will each win an O'Reilly book.

## Speaker

  • Igor Dayen is a software engineer with a Ph.D. in Computer Science who has developed operating systems, frameworks, and enterprise
applications, with deep experience in banking technology — risk
management and fixed income systems in particular.
  • He works extensively with open-source Java: Spring Framework,
Hibernate, and now the Embabel Agentic AI Framework, where he is a
core contributor — Rod Johnson credited him by name for helping drive
Embabel to its 1.0 release. Igor has co-authored articles on agentic
AI for the JVM with Johnson, the original creator of the Spring
Framework, and writes Embabel tutorials for Baeldung.
