We are a community of professionals and enthusiasts interested in all things related to Java, Java frameworks (e.g. Spring, Quarkus, etc.), Java versions, Java news, ...everything Java!
Our meetups are designed to foster learning, collaboration, and networking among like-minded individuals. - AI coding uses intuition, assistance, or rapid iteration to build software without traditional design formality. It can feel liberating and fast, but it comes with hidden risks. This session takes a closer look at both the advantages and pitfalls of this emerging approach.
- Attendees will explore when AI coding can boost creativity, collaboration, and speed, and when it can lead to fragile, hard-to-maintain systems. Through practical examples and guidelines, you will learn how to harness its strengths while avoiding the traps that undermine quality and long-term sustainability.
## Format
- 6:30pm — Welcome & Networking: Pizza, drinks and name tags will be provided—come hungry and ready to connect!
- 7:00pm — Get people into the auditorium.
- 7:05pm — Orlando JUG and ODevs opening remarks.
- 7:10pm — Featured presentation by guest speaker.
- 8:20pm — Q&A + Social Time. Two attendees will each win a JetBrains license (e.g. IntelliJ IDEA, CLion, PyCharm Pro, ReSharper, etc.) and 3 attendees will each win an O'Reilly book.
## Speaker
- Dr. Venkat Subramaniam is an award-winning author, founder of Agile Developer, Inc., an instructional professor at the University of Houston, and creator of dev2next conference.
- He has trained and mentored thousands of software developers in the US, Canada, Europe, and Asia, and is a regularly-invited speaker at several international conferences.
- Venkat helps his clients effectively apply and succeed with sustainable agile practices on their software projects.
- Venkat is a (co)author of multiple technical books, including the 2007 Jolt Productivity award winning book Practices of an Agile Developer. You can find a list of his books at <https://www.agiledeveloper.com>.
