"She Moves" - ONLINE Storytelling from the heart by Anne-Marie Corley

Join us for an ONLINE storytelling session with Anne-Marie Corley.

We first saw Anne-Marie on stage at the May (F*ST!) Female Storyteller's event in Tucson. We immediately knew we wanted to invite her to tell her story again ONLINE for us.

Anne-Marie Corley has taiko drummed under a bridge in a Japanese cemetery, waltzed in a Russian palace ballroom, and paraglided off the Bavarian Alps. She is a lifelong writer and traveler, an emerging oral storyteller, and a former air force officer, science journalist, yoga teacher and Hollywood researcher.

Born a descendent of settler colonists from England and Germany, Anne-Marie was raised with her twin sister in Dallas, Texas, and educated at Hockaday, Stanford, San Jose State and MIT. She honors the teachings and experiences they gave her and the doors they opened, as well as the effort her parents made to provide her with a top tier education. Now, in the wild of adulthood, she is unlearning much of what she learned then with help from her new primary teachers: her body, her relationships, her decolonial mentors, her ancestors and Great Mother Earth.

In her 20s and 30s, Anne-Marie found every opportunity to travel and learn across the globe, living outside of Tokyo, Japan, and inside Moscow, Russia, as well as in many major cities of the US. At 40 she moved to Phoenix for love. She and her partner recently made their escape from the heat of the big city and now live in northern New Mexico, where they are enjoying slowing down, connecting with the land and creatures – including the huge willow trees in their yard which are a morning roost for vultures sunning their wings – and making new friends while keeping the old.

Anne-Marie offers her medicine of witness and wisdom wherever she can.

The story “She Moves” was first shared in May 2025 at Female Storytellers Tucson (F*ST!), on the theme of “Surprise!” It is part of a larger work in progress called Love in the Time of War.
