Let's go to San Diego Zoo Safari Park on Tuesday October 14, 2025. The Park is open and you do not need reservations but you need season pass or tickets. Parking $20 extra/car for non-members.

We will meet in front of the main gate around 8:30-45 AM. We will enter the Safari Park when it opens at 9:00 AM sharp! We will do the group photo inside. Plan on walking 3 to 5 miles until about noon. Of course you can stay longer if you like.

What to Bring:

Walking shoes, sunscreen, hat and water are all advised. Bring your medium to long lenses. Monopods can be helpful, but tripods are not recommended.

The normal route will be as follows:
We will start with Australian Outback and Condor section. From there after shooting the tigers onto Nairobi Village to Enchanted Lagoon, Rainforest Aviary and then to elevators to Lion Camp. After seeing Bo and /or the females on to the African Loop past Cheetahs and birds in the large pond and back to elevators, Gorilla Trail to the bird aviary near the Exit.

We are flexible on what we shoot and can veer off to focus on what is happening that day. I kind of lead by committee.

Fleet Week San Diego is looking for 1 photographer for the Enlisted Recognition Lunch at the San Diego Zoo from 11am-2pm.

Find person near entrance (Maybe a table) with entrance ticket.

ATTIRE: Classy Casual. Military in Uniform, Many guests with Sport Coats.

Free parking – Lunch provided – The event is outside under some canopies.

Shot List: Photos of animal exhibits before lunch. Try to get photos of uniformed guest near sponsor banners, Guest speakers, top 3 enlisted sitting on stage with sponsors and hosts. Photos of All speakers. Get photos of sponsor banners, group shots after the event. Photo of some of the tables. Have fun. Eat buffet lunch. Keep an eye on the weather. There will be some cover. Enjoy the zoo after you are finished photographing the event.

This luncheon hosts over 300 military enlisted guests who have distinguished themselves by their community service and within their commands. The military guests are seated with leaders of the civic and business communities of San Diego, and are treated to gifts and raffle prizes.

Fleet Week San Diego is looking for 1 photographer for the Balboa Organ Pavilion Concert in the Park from on Sunday, Nov. 2nd, from 2pm-4pm. No food provided.

Come enjoy Fleet Week San Diego’s Military & Veteran Appreciation Concert on Sunday, November 2 featuring a special combined performance by Navy Band Southwest and Marine Band San Diego!
This is a free event held at the beautiful Spreckels Organ Pavilion stage in Balboa Park, San Diego.

Vietnam Veterans who have not previously been awarded a Commemorative Pin, will be honored at the concert.

Shot List - Navy & Marine Corps. Band, General and Admiral remarks, pins given to Vietnam Vets. Photos of canopies, guests, 2 guest speakers, concert. Photos from front and behind the band. Photo of sponsors. Ask officials who the sponsors are.

Fleet Week San Diego is looking for 2 photographers for the Broadway Pier on Tuesday, Nov. 4th from 10am-2pm.

Lunch provided on Pier.
NOTE: Any activity at or near Broadway Pier or on the Midway will probably have comped parking available nearby for assigned photographer.

Parking details as we get closer to the event date.

Shot List - 1: Ships arrive - Navy Ship, Coast Guard Ship, Columbian sailing ship. (Should know approx. arrival time of the Columbian sailing ship, 2 weeks prior, so keep an eye out for the update here.)
2: Then Marines arrive down Broadway with SDPD motorcycle escort. Marines and Motorcyclists group photos and lunch.
3: Press Conference at 12:00 noon.
Times off arrival is currently unknown. Ships and Marines could arrive at the same time. The 2 photographers should have each other's phone numbers to communicate on the arrivals. If the ships and Marines arrive at the same time, 1 photographer for the ships and 1 for the Marines arrival.
