About us
Welcome to the Pacific Photographic Society of San Diego. We are an active hands-on photography group for all levels of photographers and for photographic expertise from novice to expert.
Our emphasis is on photography in the field and in the studio, as well as photo finishing, education and networking.
We offer our members a wide range of photography related events including several monthly photo shoots at various locations, seminars, classes, educational shoots and networking opportunities with other photographers.
We welcome all photographers from beginner to professional and seek to provide an environment that is friendly, professional and enriching for all.
We actively seek the input of our members to ensure that the group provides the activities that are both beneficial and enjoyable to participating photographers.

Street Photography – Día de los Muertos in Old Town
Cosmopolitan Hotel & Restaurant (Old Town), 2660 Calhoun Street, San Diego, CA, USJoin us for a morning of street photography in Old Town San Diego for Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
PPS has been photographing this celebration almost every year since 2010, and it's always a fun and colorful outing. Old Town comes alive with elaborate decorations, traditional altars, colorful costumes, music, and plenty of wonderful opportunities for street photography.
The official festivities begin at 11 AM, with activities planned throughout Old Town, so we'll have time to explore and photograph the celebrations as they get underway.

## 📍 Meeting Location
9:30 AM – Fountain by Fiesta de Reyes
2754 Calhoun Street
Old Town San Diego State Historic Park
San Diego, CA 92110We'll meet by the fountain, grab a coffee at Cafe de Reyes, or something to eat, and catch up before heading out to photograph around 10:30 AM.
If you'd rather skip the coffee/breakfast, plan to meet us at the fountain at 10:30am or come find us at Fiesta de Reyes.
We'll wander through the State Historic Park, exploring the decorated streets, shops, and festivities. Those interested can continue along San Diego Avenue toward the historic cemetery, which is especially interesting during Día de los Muertos.
With so much happening throughout Old Town, it will be difficult to stay together as one large group, so expect to split into smaller groups as the morning progresses.
## 📷 What to Bring
- Your favorite street photography gear
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat
- A fixed 28mm, 35mm, or 50mm lens, or a medium zoom
There should be plenty of opportunities for candid street photography, environmental portraits, and colorful details.

## 🚗 Parking & Transportation
Old Town can get very busy during Día de los Muertos, so please allow extra time for parking or consider taking public transportation.
Free Parking
The Caltrans Parking Lot at 4050 Taylor Street offers free parking on Saturdays and Sundays and is a short walk from Old Town.
Additional parking options are available throughout the area, but spaces may fill quickly.

- COASTER commuter trains
