I will be traveling through south central Utah. Feel free to join me for all, some, a little or none. If you want to bring a guest, message me beforehand. Basic itinerary subject to change--St. George, Utah thru Zion to the east side (not going to the main canyon). Then north to Bryce Canyon, Kodachrome Basin SP, and Escalante. Good chance to see big horn sheep, several waterfalls, Anasazi pictographs and petroglyphs, arches and other outstanding rock formations (hoodoos). Short hikes with one or two exceptions. I will be using my drone. I have talked to the rangers at Kodachrome and Grand Staircase Escalante NM. and I have permission for those locations. Bring moderate telephoto if you want to try panoramas. Bring all your toys, warm clothing, food and H2O. Bryce can be very cold even in May. The last time I camped there in late April, the entrance station was open but unattended, no one in campground, no other visitors when I drove thru the park to the end, lots of snow. I will be camping with the exception of the first night in St. George. Location for Meetup is hotel in St. George, but we can rendezvous at a restaurant or by cell? I will provide suggestions for accommodations each night, if you aren't a camper.
More details will follow. This trip may be extended to Capitol Reef, Valley of the Gods or? Things in motion tend to stay in motion (until acted upon by another force like significant other, family, bad luck, etc.).

It's been a while since we've had the opportunity to attend the Factory Tour at Taylor Guitars. Please join us for this unique photo experience.

We'll meet outside the Taylor Guitar Visitor Center at 8:40am.

About the Tour
The Taylor factory tour offers an immersive look into Taylor’s state-of-the-art manufacturing operation. We’ll learn about tonewood sourcing and see firsthand the unique artistry and craftsmanship that bring their guitars to life. The factory tour promises a memorable experience that will deepen your appreciation for crafting a beautiful musical instrument.

Tour Details
• Tours are free of charge
• We’ll check in 15 minutes before our tour time in the Taylor Visitor Center. The tour will begin at 9, and is about 90 minutes long.
• The tour utilizes a headset system; a receiver and headphones will be provided
• While not physically demanding, the tour does include a half-mile in total walking distance
• Wearing closed-toe shoes is recommended
• Safety glasses are required for all guests who are not wearing prescription glasses; they will be provided

Waiver
To join the factory tour, please arrive at the Visitor Center 15 minutes early to sign in and complete the mandatory waiver.

Visitor Center Information
• The Visitor Center is open Monday - Friday from 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
• They have an array of guitars on display and available to play and purchase, as well as Taylor apparel and accessories available for purchase

Join us in visiting and photographing the beautiful Alta Vista Botanical Gardens located in Vista. The 14-acre hilltop Gardens are designated ecological landscapes containing collections of plants native to areas around the globe.

The collection of landscapes includes an Australian Garden, California Natives, Ceremonial Gardens, a Children's Garden & Discovery Trail, Culinary Herb Garden, Labyrinth, Jungle Gardens, Medicinal Herbs, Pan Asian Garden, Prehistoric Cycads with large metal sculptures, Rare Fruits, South African plantings plus ponds and water features.

These Gardens provide diverse opportunities for landscape and macro photography. Wide angle, short zooms and macro lenses could all be put to good use here.

Sturdy walking or hiking shoes would be good here as well as hats and sunscreen.

Admission is $5 per person. Cash & exact change will be helpful to expedite admission. Free parking is available.

We will meet at entrance to the Gardens. After everyone pays their individual admission fee, we'll take a group photo. Then we can wander individually or small groups to photograph these expansive gardens.

Please only submit an RSVP for this event if you’re 100% sure you will attend. You will be counted as a no-show if you do not show up or if you change your RSVP right before an event. You may be blocked from attending specific events after one no-show, and you will be removed as a member if you accrue three no-shows.

Let's shoot the the moonrise over the San Diego skyline! (Note: This is on Mother's Day.)

We will meet on the grass across the street from the Safe Harbor Sunroad Marina at 6:45 pm. After the group shot, we'll get set up to photograph the moonrise, the sunset reflecting off the buildings, and the skyline after dark. Moonrise is at 7:07 pm, but it will be a bit later before it rises above the skyline. The sun will set at 7:38 pm, giving us some nice color as the moon rises.

The moon will be rising just to the left of the B Street Pier, from the direction of Santa Fe Depot.

Carpooling is encouraged. There is very limited free parking on Harbor Island Drive, but paid parking may be available in the nearby lots. There is also free parking at Harbor Island Park at the opposite end of Harbor Island, approximately one mile from our shooting location. Keep in mind that you will be walking back in the dark, so it's best to buddy up if you park there!

You will need a sturdy tripod, shutter release, a long telephoto zoom for the moonrise, and a mid-range zoom for the city skyline and Coronado bridge.

If you RSVP “YES”, please show up, otherwise you will be marked a No Show. If you need to change your RSVP, please do so in a timely manner. Except in the case of an emergency, changing your RSVP on the day of the shoot will also count as a No Show. Be considerate of those on the waitlist.
