PDX Transplants 30+

So you’ve moved to a new city, and you’re no longer in your twenties and so you want to be able to hear the people you hang out with. But your new coworkers are about as much fun as a ‘all hands on deck’ meeting of wet sponges, and if you stay home one more Saturday night you’ll cry yourself to sleep on the ‘friendship’ section of Facebook dating.

Rock bottom,  we’ve all been there. The night is always darkest before rooster crows twice, you know what we mean, you get it. There is no where to go but Up! And ‘Up’ is what this group is about, exploring ‘Up!’ Are you Up for exploring a new dive bar? Up for checking out OMSI at night? Are you Up for Road House the Play at The Siren Theater? (It’s hilarious btw) Anyone up for checking out Oxbow park? What is everyone Up to this weekend?

We are basically just a group of transplants that are Up to explore our new city of Portland. Up for some adventures! Up for mischief! And are basically Up for anything!

So here is what’s Up…

We are going to be organizing monthly events every first Saturday of the month. Well, sometimes on Thursdays, rarely Mondays except in football season, there is summer Sundays rooftop day drinking, and Friday happy hours, and duh don’t forget the show up for Taco Tuesdays. Yep there will probably be events throughout the year on every day except Wednesdays. Don’t know why, we just aren’t Up for Wednesdays. Unless you have a suggestion?

And that’s what we as a group also want to keep Up on..  what’s happening? What’s fun this weekend? What area has the best dive bar? Where’s the best park to take your kids… that’s near the dive bar? Or where is the best place to go hunting for widowed cougars that have a house (and more importantly) and boat on Lake O! (It’s how the locals say Lake Oswego, 'Lake O' btw!) We want to encourage you all to share what you discover here.

But here is the catch-33. We can never do the same thing twice. So if you miss an event, you have to play catch Up (yep the ‘Up’ thing is still going!) on your own. And if you’re new to the group you can look Up the past events and see what you might be Up for?

Moving on! We again encourage to write in suggestions for events or meetups, see if anyone wants to join and what ever you are Up to.

We ask you to stay respectful of others, hate of any kind will not be tolerated and everyone is welcome. And it’s fine to be a little Risque every-once in a while like, 'we found the best place to get a gluten free lap dance!' It’s real, look it UP!

Please keep this group politically neutral, there are plenty of places to get depressed about the world. Where as here, we are just trying to keep it Upbeat! See what you made us do!

And scene, sorry! So sorry, please forgive the low low low brow sense of humor and shenanigans, it’s just what happens when you are in a new city, isolated and all cooped UP!
