Celia Leigh and Ross Lister Added - This trip is now full!

This is a private trip not covered by the Peak District Walkers Public Liability / Ramblers insurance so you will need to book private travel insurance to cover you on this trip.

We will be walking in the Dolomite mountain range in Italy's Trento region. The Dolomites have become a true outdoor playground for tourists. Summer, provides outstanding opportunities for hiking, climbing via ferrata, rock climbing, mountaineering, road and mountain biking, base jumping, paragliding, and hang gliding. Accessibilty: The Dolomites are not only Italy’s most beautiful and dramatic mountain range, they are also it’s most accessible. Whether hiking, climbing, or skiing, these cragged and jagged peaks can be accessed through one of the most complex systems of hiking trails in all of Europe. Add to this numerous cable-cars, chairlifts, and gondolas, and its awe-inspiring beauty is well within the reach of most all levels of hikers and walkers. Hiking: The Dolomites offers innumerable hiking trails. From short, flat walks to challenging hikes with significant elevation changes, day hikes to multi-day excursions, these mountains are traversed by a network of trails that cross through entire Dolomite groups and allow for in-depth exploration of the area on foot. Via Ferrata: Via ferrata, or iron paths, offer access to high elevations and vistas usually reserved for rock climbers and mountaineers. Originally built by the Italian alpine military units during World War I, via ferrata offer routes through the mountains ranging from hikes to adrenaline filled ascents, all protected by a network of cables and rails. We will all stay together in a large house which has 6 bedrooms and sits at an altitude of 1500 metres with views across the valley. It is a self catering apartment. Couples are welcome (please book individually and then let me know your room requirements). We will fly into Venice and travel together in a minibus to the walks. There will be a minimum of 6 walks which will on average be between 10-15 miles each day. There will also be shorter walk options. There will also be the opportunity to complete via ferrata ascents and also Lakeland swims and other outdoor adventures. We will ascent to heights well over 3000 metres. As those who have attended my previous walks in Switzerland will confirm, I design the walks around the skills of the group once attendance is confirmed. Costings: The trip will cost around £800 per person. This will include accommodation, flights and your share of the minibus hire. It does not include food or drinks or additional trips (i.e. White water rafting, cable cars, train rides or base jumping costs). The more people who come the cheaper it gets as the accommodation price is fixed. Its a not for profit trip. As such, I will not confirm your place until I have received your deposit. The deposit is £500 which must be received by 30th June to secure your place. The deposit is not refundable unless the trip is cancelled due to lack of support in which case it will be returned in full. Once I have received 7 deposits the trip details will be confirmed and a final balance will be shared with the attendees along with room allocations. This final balance must be paid by the 14th August 2019. Please send your deposits to the following account: DOLOMITES 2 - 2019 DEPOSIT ACCOUNT Sort Code : 11-73-62 Account Number : 23406762.
