“Life, if well lived, is long enough.” Seneca
Last month we discussed how Stoics can prepare for bad times with the practice of premeditatio malorum. But what about the event that many view as the ultimate misfortune, death? This month we will discuss the concept of Momento Mori and how it can help our own Stoic practice.
The Stoics believed that contemplating your own – and others’ – demise can be a powerful tool in reminding us to live a good life and helping us to focus on what is most important in life. It prompts us to consider question such as: What is the most important legacy we can leave? What will people remember us for? What good did we do for others? Are we making the most of our time with the people we care for?
We invite you to join us for a lively discussion about Stoic principles and practice, and how they can help us to live a good life. All are welcome, whether you are well versed in Stoicism, a Stoic novice, or are simply curious to learn more.
