Cobbs Creek Walk: Blue Bell Inn to Market Street EL

Details
This is a transit-assisted ONE-WAY walk re-creating one of our original events, going all the way back to July of 2008 (we had done a clean-up with walk in May of that year in the precursor group to this one); we billed this as "Car-Free Sunday", since it begins and end at convenient public transit points, with two options along the way to "bail out". (The Green Line trolleys have a free interchange with the Blue Line "EL" at 30th Street.) We developed this idea in ensuing years, doing some version of this every year.
Total walking time is about 2 hours, unless we add in some time to explore Mount Moriah Cemetery. The paved trail has been extended since 2008; we can choose to use it the whole way, but there are also dirt trails available for much of the route.
We begin at historic Blue Bell Inn, where the #11 SEPTA "Green Line" trolley (soon to be known as the T4) leaves the city (Woodland Avenue, Philadelphia turns into Main Street, Darby). From there it is a bit less than 30 minutes to intersect the #13 (soon to be the T3) trolley stop in Yeadon if needed for any late-comers (trolleys arrive from center City every 20 minutes, at 11:31 & 11:51 am. Departures to Center City are also every 20 minutes, 11:36 & 11:56 am).
It is about a 30-minute walk through Yeadon Woods to Mount Moriah Cemetery, which we can choose to explore, or instead keep walking north. It's another 20 or 30 minutes walk to intersect the #34 trolley (T2) terminus at 61st & Baltimore Avenue: trolleys leave for Center City at 18, 38, & 58 minutes after the hour. (You can also catch a Regional Rail Media/Wawa line train to Center City at 43 minutes past the hour.)
From there it is about a 35-minute walk to 63rd & Market Streets, where you can catch the Market-Frankford "Blue" Line (Elevated & subway train) back to Center City.
We look forward to having you join us!
