Details

PyStar events are for women and their friends. (Men are welcome as guests of women who are attending.)

Join us for a special PyStar Philly (https://twitter.com/PyStarPhilly) project night. We'll be partnering with Code for America Brigade (https://www.meetup.com/Code-for-America-Philly/events/98785492/) to learn about building civic apps with open data. You might have heard of some of Philly's newest web and mobile applications designed to solve civic problems and engage citizens: Sheltr (http://sheltr.org/), Philly Flu Shot Finder (http://apps.phillyopen.org/flu-shot-map/), Baldwin (http://baldwin.ph/), Councilmatic (http://www.councilmatic.org/), and Open311 (http://open311.org/). These are all civic apps that are built on top of publicly-available government and community data. We'll be exploring and contributing to several Philly-based civic apps at this event. More adventurous folks might even want to build their own!

Things to bring: a laptop and power cord

Food: Pizza provided by Devnuts and CfA.
