The Director’s Chair: A Continuous-Light Portrait Workshop
Monday, August 24, 2026
11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Join Master Photographer David Lloyd and professional model Amanda Trent for an intimate, hands-on exploration of continuous-light portraiture inspired by the glamour and elegance of 1940s Hollywood.
Continuous lighting allows you to see the photograph before you press the shutter. You can study how the light shapes the face, watch shadows change as the light is moved, and refine the mood of the portrait in real time.
During this four-hour workshop, we will explore:

  • Sculpting the face with modern LED and Fresnel lighting
  • Creating classic Hollywood-style key, fill and hair lighting
  • Controlling direction, shadow, contrast and light falloff
  • Producing elegant black-and-white and richly detailed color portraits
  • Directing pose and expression using the director’s chair
  • Creating a variety of glamorous, cinematic and dramatic images from one studio setting

This workshop is designed for photographers who want to understand lighting—not simply copy a setup. We will examine why each light is placed where it is and how even a subtle adjustment can completely transform a portrait.
With only five photographer spaces available, everyone will receive generous shooting time and personal guidance. Bring your camera, portrait lens, charged batteries and memory cards—and come prepared for an afternoon of creativity, experimentation and beautiful portrait photography.
Space is limited. Reserve your place early.
