New Meetup: Auburn "Meet the Breeds" and Fliering Campaign

From: Dawn
Sent on: Wednesday, June 9, 2010 10:30 AM
Location finalized! We urge everyone to attend. All dog spaces have been filled (we want only a small number of dogs), but we need people to help hand out fliers and talk to residents. If we don't spread the word on Sunday, Auburn might very well vote a breed-specific ordinance in to law on Monday. So please come help us spread the words.

Announcing a new Meetup for Chako's Pit Bull Events, Classes, and Activities!

What: Auburn "Meet the Breeds" and Fliering Campaign

When: Sunday, June 13,[masked]:30 AM

Auburn Recreation Park
Racetrack Road Off Auburn-Folsom Road
Auburn, CA 95603

Auburn is proposing breed-specific legislation. The next scheduled city council meeting on the subject in June 14th (the day following this meetup event).

This meetup will be in Auburn to spread the word about the city council meeting and to educate people about Pit Bulls - only pre-approved dogs are allowed. (We want people without dogs to come as well to help hand out mini fliers!) Dogs that are pre-approved must be very well behaved and well-mannered around both people and dogs.

We want all the dogs that Auburn defines as "Pit Bulls" - and that includes American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, Bull Terriers, Miniature Bull Terriers, and Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

(updated note: We have reached our max of dogs for this event! But we need lots of PEOPLE). If your dog is titled in any conformation or working / sporting event, does therapy work, service dog work, search and rescue, or anything like that, let me know!

If your dog is not appropriate for this event, please still come and help us hand out flyers.

Recommended but not required: Make sure dogs are wearing license tags for whatever city in which they are licensed. Bring water, sunscreen, poop bags. Dress in casual, weather appropriate, and "professional looking" attire. We want to make a good impression on folks.

Professional looking might be dockers and a short-sleeved polo for men, a nice pair of jeans and a button down shirt, etc. Women could be a nice pair of jeans and a nice blouse, or black slacks and a nice shirt. Nothing fancy! Just don't come out in your grungiest wear! smile

After we meet at the park, give any press interviews (if they come) and talk to people visiting the park that day, we will break into groups and canvas to hand out fliers.
