What we’re about
ProductTank Auckland is for anyone with an interest in product management. This could include product managers (at large organisations such as telcos or banks, at global software businesses based in Auckland or startups) those who want to get into it, or the generally curious. Product managers have to wear many hats but there are good practices that we can call on to do our jobs better, so let's get together to share war stories and take product management in NZ to the next level.
ProductTank is a global network of meetups and provides an opportunity for Product Managers to exchange ideas and experiences about Product Design, Development and Management, Business Modelling, Metrics, User Experience and all the other things that get us excited.
Events include talks from guest speakers on topics around product management, networking opportunities, and a good old-fashioned chin-wag over a beer or two.
We're open to companies big and small. We also welcome early-stage technology businesses looking to learn how to get their ideas off the ground.
ProductTank Auckland is brought to you by Product Aotearoa which brings together product people from across the country. You can connect with fellow Kiwi product people by joining our Slack channel here.
We also have a blog and encourage the community to get engaged by commenting on or writing new posts for http://www.mindtheproduct.com
Finally, check out our annual conferences in San Francisco and London: http://mtpcon.com

- What if your internal platforms could drive business innovation?Auror Auckland CBD, Auckland
What if your internal platforms could drive business innovation, not just technical enablement? Join us to unpack ‘Platform Engineering Done Well’, based on ideas redefining the role of product and engineering teams across industries.
We're lucky to have Matthew Skelton, co-author of Team Topologies visiting New Zealand! In this talk he will explore how platform engineering can become a force multiplier—not just through cloud, data, or AI tooling but also by shaping more innovative ways of working, reducing cognitive load, and amplifying innovation across the organisation.
This isn’t just for platform teams - this meetup is for you if you are a:
- Product Manager trying to scale smarter,
- Engineer seeking higher leverage in your work,
- Tech Lead or Manager navigating cross-team dependencies,
- Or simply curious about the next wave of organisational design and operating models...
You’ll hear how teams use product thinking, fast flow principles, and techniques like knowledge diffusion to unlock meaningful, sustainable change. And you’ll walk away with actionable insights—whether you're just discovering Team Topologies or already embedding it into your org.
We're running this event in partnership with the Auckland Product and Software Leaders group (APSLG) - please RSVP on either this meetup event page or the APSLG page but not both!
Huge thanks to Hypr for making this event possible by bringing Matthew to NZ and sponsoring the food and drinks, Auror for hosting and Daniel Walters for pulling this all together.
Note that the livestream for this event will kick off from just before 6pm.
