The journey from services to product

Come to hear the story of a journey from prototype to professional services to partner and eventually to product! VTS’ origins were a development team to solve a problem for an internal business unit in Auckland, NZ. They are now working with energy companies globally to implement the product.

It’s been a long road from the early prototype to scalable SaaS product. This road took the VTS team from an independent professional services organisation to a world of building a scalable product.

Hear how they navigated the transitions between stages, what they recommend for others on this road, what they’ve learned makes the transition harder, and share a dose of reality (therapy?) about the journey they are still on.

A few logistics notes to help with your RSVPs:

• The venue has a finite capacity for health and safety reasons. We’ll be checking off names on the door; if your name is not on the door you’ll need to wait until doors have closed to find out if you can get in (please take no offence if you’re turned away at this point).
• Please update your RSVP if you can’t make it so we don’t need to turn away anyone who made the effort to come!
• We’ll have people to let you into the building until 5.55 pm. If you arrive after that you won’t be able to get in. Allow time for traffic as Carlton Gore Road can get busy after 5 pm.
• The address is 110 Carlton Gore Road, but please enter through the Clayton Street entrance. There will be someone at this entrance to open the door.
• There is paid street parking on the Vector side of Newmarket, and several parking buildings in the vicinity. Plus, plentiful public transport.
• We’ll have some light snacks and drinks to keep the wolf from the door until you get home for dinner.

Patrick Cheffins has worked in digital innovation and the energy sector globally and brought his experience to New Zealand in 2012. He’s led strategy and product innovation for a wide range of digital solutions used across industries in NZ.
